How to install a screen door
Today, we’re going to talk about how you can install a screen door. There are several different ways to do this. This is because there are many brands and types of doors, but also because people like to be creative with their home improvement projects. The instructions that I’m going to go over here will work well for most screen doors, though. If you have a specific type of door or situation, there may be additional instructions for getting the job done successfully.
When installing a screen door, it is important that you get it level with the ground when possible. You’ll need help from another person when doing this part of the job. Have them hold up one end of the top section of your brand new screen door while you adjust the bottom so that it is even with the ground. If there are any gaps between the door and the frame, now is the time to fix them. You can do this by using a piece of weather stripping or by shimming the door.
Once it’s levelled, you’ll want to fasten it in place. This can be done with screws or nails, depending on your preference and what type of door you have. Make sure that the fasteners you use are long enough to secure the door properly but not so long that they go through the other side.
Now, it’s time to install the screen. The way you do this will vary depending on what type of door you have. For example, if you have a sliding screen door, you’ll probably be using a tool to attach the mesh. If you have a traditional type of hinged screen door, it is likely that the mesh has already been applied and that you just need to put on some screws or nails to keep it in place.Thought it can be difficult, this is probably the most important step in how to install a screen door. Be careful when you’re putting your mesh into place so that it’s not crooked or uneven. If you need help with this because of the way your door is made, make sure you ask somebody for assistance before doing anything else.
Once the mesh is in place and secured by screws or nails, go ahead and put on the handle, any locks, and any other finishing touches that are required based on your specific type of door.
